Carly Rae Jepsen released her new single “I Really Like You” on her YouTube channel.
The video features Tom Hanks lip-syncing while going through New York City to meet Jepsen in a large dance scene at the end. In addition, Justin Bieber has a cameo in the finale of the video.
According to Time, Hanks asked to be in the video after Jepsen’s agent, Scooter Braun, explained the video’s story to Hanks when the two met at Braun’s wedding.
Bieber has been a long-time supporter of Jepsen ever since she first stepped into the spotlight in the summer of 2012 with “Call Me Maybe.” He also helped give an extra push to the single to bring it to the top of the charts and had Jepsen as the opening act on his Believe tour.
Jepsen told Time that she did not want the usual cutesy girl-meets-boy stories like in “Call Me Maybe” for this video and was inspired by Wes Andersen films to change it up a bit.
“The song is so sweet,” Jepsen said. “I wanted something that would contradict that — a little bit of comedy flare or a left turn.”
Cue Tom Hanks singing and dancing with Jepsen and Bieber while looking like he is having the time of his life.
Nearly a week after the song was released on YouTube, it has gathered nearly 1.3 million views and more than 53,000 likes so far.
The song can be downloaded on iTunes and the Google Play Store — both for $1.29. It is also available on Spotify.
